1000 Island Cruise
In May, 2012, Carolyn and I went on a 1000 island lunch cruise on the
paddlewheeler Island Queen. Our cruise began at 12 noon in Kingston.
After boarding, we were led to the main dining room on the second deck.
There was a buffet style lunch consisting of various salads, rice, beef,
chicken and ratatouille. For dessert, there was cake, and we had a special
serving from the chef because it was our anniversary. We also had a glass
of Point Pelee white wine. During our meal we could see the beauty of the
islands and cottages through the large dining room windows.
After lunch we went to the upper deck to observe the scenery. The cruise
took us through the small cottage islands of the Admiralty group featuring
Napoleon's Hat, Wanderer's Channel, the Bateau Channel, Mandalay Mansion
and the historic sights of Kingston. During the cruise, music was provided
by "The River Cats". They performed music from Jamaica, New Orleans and
even Beatle songs.
After just over 3 hours, our ship "Island Queen" arrived back in Kingston.
This ship is a triple decked paddlewheeler in Mississippi River Boat
style. She's richly adorned with oak panels and antique tin on the interior.
